Blood Drive Sat July 8, 10am – 2pm

VFW Post 2461 is honored and excited to participate in the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on July 8 between 10am and 2pm. Join us as we honor and support all First responders including Colorado firefighters and law enforcement officers who are just our type of heroes. They save lives on the job every day. Many of them save lives on their own time as well by giving blood. We need your help to celebrate our lifesavers this July during Bonfils’ first-ever Battle of the Badges.

All during July, donors who come into any Bonfils community donor center or mobile blood drive will be asked to cast their vote in honor of local fire departments or law enforcement agencies. It’s a friendly competition between Team Fire and Team Law to help ensure donors across the state maintain a safe and ready supply of donated blood during an especially challenging time of year.

During the summer months, and especially July, blood donations tend to drop and fewer schools and businesses host blood drives. Donations can drop by as much as 20 percent because people are out and about which ironically is one reason blood usage can spike during that same time frame.

When all is said and done, the team with the most votes wins bragging rights, but in the end, everyone wins as we all team up together to ensure patient needs can be met every day of the year.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.

Donating blood is one of the easiest ways to volunteer and give back to your community. Join VFW Post 2461 as we stick it for them!
